Madison, NJ: As a parent and a golfer, Madison Honda General Manager, David Lee had no problem signing the dealership on as a sponsor of the 9th Annual Kaleidoscope Fund Golf Outing, held recently at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster. The Outing was a fund-raiser for Justin’s Hope Fund, part of the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation.
David Lee explained that the Kaleidoscope Fund is a local, charitable organization whose mission is “dedicated to providing assistance to the urgent needs of children. By hosting and conducting select fund-raising events, the Kaleidoscope Fund provides financial help to organizations involved in assisting sick or disadvantaged children.” Each year, the committee chooses beneficiary charities to receive funds from that year’s events.
The Outing put a spotlight on Justin’s Hope Fund, which supports the work of the Children’s Brain Tissue Tumor Consortium, a collaboration of hospitals agreeing to share tissue samples to speed scientific discoveries needed to cure brain tumors in children. The Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation is the non-profit organization that coordinates fund-raising for Justin’s Hope Fund and other, similar funds. Their mission is “to improve the treatment, quality of life and long-term outlook for children with brain and spinal cord tumors through research, support, education and advocacy to families and survivors.”
The Trump National Golf Club was a magnificent setting for the Outing, which rewarded the 116 participants for their generosity with a full day of golfing, socializing and gourmet dining. The day began with a Luncheon, followed by a Shotgun Start. At the end of 18 holes of play, the golfers enjoyed a Cocktail Hour as a prelude to the Dinner and Awards Party. Adding to the glamour of the event, members of the New Jersey Devils played in the foursomes. All-star goalie, Martin Brodeur was joined by former Devils Grant Marshall and Rob Skrlc, who is also active in the Devil’s alumni association.
Madison Honda made the day even more exciting for the golfers by supplying a brand new, 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour Navi as a hole-in-one prize on the 183 yard, par 3 13th hole. No one managed a hole-in-one, but everyone had a terrific time trying. To help maximize the Outing’s fund-raising goal, the dealership paid for the hole-in-one insurance and made a separate donation.
Tim O’Connor, a member of the Kaleidoscope Fund Golf Outing Committee, reported that the event raised about $60,000 for Justin’s Hope Fund. Mr. O’Connor thanked David Lee and Madison Honda for making a significant contribution to the fund-raising and overall success of the event. Mr. Lee said that he saw the event as “a lot of good people involved in very important work,” and he “wanted to be counted among them.”
